Partner

Kent Modesitt is a Partner at Reilly Pozner LLP. He focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation and class actions.

Before joining Reilly Pozner, Kent served as a law clerk to Chief Justice Mary J. Mullarkey of the Colorado Supreme Court, and as a research attorney for Chief Judge W. Terry Ruckriegle, Judge Richard H. Hart, and Judge David R. Lass in the Fifth Judicial District of Colorado. Working for the Colorado court system at the appellate and trial court levels has exposed Kent to a wide array of legal areas including real estate, tax, local government, commercial, and criminal law. It has also provided him with extensive research and writing experience as well as insight into litigation from the judicial perspective.

Kent graduated from the University of Denver College of Law, where he was Order of St. Ives and Editor-in-Chief of the Denver University Law Review. Kent received several academic and writing awards, including the Jan M. and Marjorie G. Laitos, and Donald P. Welch Memorial Fund academic scholarships. Kent is the author of Antidegradation: Lost Cause or the Next Cause, which was published in the Water Law Review, Vol. 2 (1999). That article also won first place in the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, Natural Resources Writing Competition.
