Larry Pozner's law practice emphasizes three primary areas: criminal defense work, complex commercial litigation and professional lecturing. He began his career as a Public Defender. In 1998 he was elected President of the 10,000 member National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Mr. Pozner's civil practice includes representation as plaintiff or defense counsel in a broad spectrum of matters including fraud, outrageous conduct, breach of contract, theft of trade secrets, environmental matters, copyright and trademark infringement actions and healthcare fraud cases. He was co-counsel in four successive trials against a midwestern brokerage management firm which resulted in verdicts and settlements totaling $31,000,000. Those trials consumed more than 27 weeks, the longest being a 12 week trial in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mr. Pozner was lead counsel in the defense of the Broncos Football Club which was sued in a multi-claim civil action seeking damages and interest totaling $150,000,000. He obtained a defense verdict. He was also co-counsel in the successful defense of the Denver Broncos in a case seeking rescission of the contract under which the Broncos were purchased by the current owner, Pat Bowlen.
Mr. Pozner is a nationally recognized legal commentator. He was retained as the NBC News Legal Analyst for the Oklahoma City bombing trials and the Jon Benet Ramsey case. He has frequently provided legal analysis for the NBC Nightly News, The Today Show, Rivera Live, Fox News, CNN, NPR and Court TV. Mr. Pozner is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, and in Martindale Hubbell's Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. He served many years on the adjunct faculty of the University of Denver College of Law, where he was voted Best Professor. He is now a partner in the 15-lawyer litigation firm of Reilly Pozner.
Mr. Pozner is the co-author of Cross-Examination: Science and Techniques, published by LEXIS Law Publishing, Charlottesville, VA, 1993. This 720-page treatise is now in its 10th printing, and is America's best selling publication on the area of cross-examination.
Mr. Pozner's practice includes substantial work as a professional lecturer on trial tactics. His full day CLE program on cross examination has been presented by state bar organizations more than 150 times. He has delivered more than 400 lectures in 46 states and Canada and Puerto Rico on subjects relating to trial skills. He has served on the faculty of several trial practice institutes.
